Floral Easter Egg Paper Basket and Lantern SVG. Cricut Craft. Easter Decoration

Easter Egg Basket – Floral

Here’s another Easter egg basket design, this one featuring a floral theme. You can check out my other Easter egg basket design here. Both designs are the same size, so if you make both, the top and bottom pieces can be swapped interchangeably.

The video tutorial for this basket is the same video as my other basket since the pieces are pretty much the same, however there are a few minor differences which I’ll go over below.

In your downloaded folder you’ll see an informational PDF file (like below) that contains all the parts that make up the basket, with labels indicating how many pieces to cut for each item.

The top (or egg) part of the basket is made up of 3 different panels which you see in the image above in pink, blue and purple. (My other Easter basket is made up of two panels). The green panel above is the backing piece for each of the pink, blue and purple panels. You can cut this piece out in a second solid color or in tissue paper if you’re creating a lantern. (Also a note about tissue paper, in my video I cut my tissue paper with scissors but I’ve recently discovered that it’s much easier to cut with an x-acto knife and cutting mat if you have them. You just need to make sure that you keep your blade at a very low angle to avoid pulling and tearing the tissue paper).

Below are the pink, blue and purple panels which I’ve cut out in pink card stock paper. I’ve labelled them Panel 1, Panel 2 and Panel 3. You may notice Panels 1 and 2 are the same floral pattern, the difference being that Panel 1 has the hexagon attached to it’s top. This hexagon is where you’ll glue all the panels together. Panel 3 is the same floral pattern but a mirror image of Panels 1 and 2.

When you attach these panels together, you can follow my layout below. It’s not absolutely crucial that you follow this layout. You can just as easily create a complete egg with Panel 1 along with five of Panel 2, or Panel 1 with five of Panel 3. You’ll just end up with the floral pattern repeating for every panel rather than alternating like mine.

As for the bottom or the leaf basket—it’s made up of a single piece with it’s backing piece (see informational PDF image above). You’ll need a total of 6 of these pieces to create your basket. As you can see below, I flipped 3 of my pieces so that they are mirror images of the other 3. Again this is purely aesthetic and will not affect the shape of your basket so this is optional.

When I created my basket, I alternated the pieces so every other piece is the same, as you can see below.

And here is the finished basket:

The handle for this basket project is also a little bit different from the one you’ll see in the video tutorial but the assembly is the same. Just fold up at the two fold lines, then fold the whole piece in half and glue together. The circular part (the base) remains unglued until you’re ready to attach it to your egg.

For this design you can also use the leaf cutouts from the bottom leaf basket panels to decorate your egg. As you see below I just glued a few of them around my handle. Since you’ll be cutting six of the panels, you’ll end up with plenty of leaves for decorating.

My video tutorial below goes into more detail on how to assemble this basket project, but keep in mind that your pieces won’t look the same because the video was made for my other basket design. As always I’m available by email if you have any questions or need any help: vin@snowdayblog.com.
