DIY Ginkgo Heart Gift Box With Lid

This ginkgo heart box is a sister design to my floral heart gift box template—same lid and deep, roomy base, but with a more graphic pattern. Instead of blossoms, this version features layered ginkgo leaves that feel clean, elegant, and a little more minimalist. It’s a lovely choice for Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s gifts, weddings, and sweet little handmade surprises.

This download includes two box sizes, so you can choose the best fit for what you’re gifting:

  • Small: 4.5″ wide (measured at the widest part of the heart)
  • Large: 6.25″ wide
  • Depth (both sizes): 2.5″

The longest piece for the large box fits on a standard 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of cardstock, which makes it easy to cut without special paper. If you have 12″ x 12″ cardstock, you can technically scale the design up a bit (most cutting machines max out at a 12″ cutting width).

These heart boxes are perfect for chocolates and treats, but they’re also great for small gifts like jewelry, notes, mini candles, or party favors. Here are some photo references so you can see how much this box can hold. FYI these can actually hold two layers of Ferrero Rocher chocolates, which isn’t shown here.

The assembly video for this ginkgo heart box is the same tutorial as my floral heart box, since the box structure and pieces are identical. It’s about 30 minutes long, but once you see how the pieces come together, you’ll realize it’s not a difficult project at all. About a third of the video walks you through the different parts and explains how they fit together, so the assembly feels straightforward.
