Year Of The Dragon Decoration

According to the Chinese zodiac, 2024 is the year of the dragon so I’ve turned my Endra dragon into this red and gold version to commemorate this year’s zodiac animal.

For this dragon decoration I used a red card stock along with my favorite gold card stock, Kodamaa. This is a beautiful, foil gold card stock that’s the perfect shade of gold and very shiny. Another reason I like using Kodamaa gold is that you can easily wipe off any glue that you get on the surface. Just use a slightly damp paper towel and try to wipe the glue off when it’s still wet.

One caution I have with the Kodamaa gold is to be careful when you’re curving parts of the dragon accents, like the mane and wing accents. You don’t want to bend the gold card stock too harshly because fold lines will show up in the gold and they are harder to smooth out than with regular card stock. As you can see in the image below, I made this mistake with my dragon and you can see the fold wrinkles here. Obviously not a big deal, just something to be aware of if you don’t want wrinkle lines.
